Description
Active Ingredient: Each mL contains gentamicin (as sulfate) 3 mg. Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thus killing the bacteria that cause infection.
Indications: It is indicated for the topical treatment of various ocular bacterial infections in dogs and cats, including:
Conjunctivitis
Keratitis (inflammation of the cornea) and keratoconjunctivitis
Corneal ulcers
Blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids) and blepharoconjunctivitis
Acute meibomianitis and dacryocystitis
Action: It is effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-negative pathogens and some Gram-positive organisms, including Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae, among others.
Usage and Safety
Dosage: For dogs and cats, the typical dosage is 1 to 2 drops instilled into the conjunctival sac 3 to 4 times daily for 3 days, or as recommended by a veterinarian.
Administration: To avoid contamination, do not touch the tip of the container to the eye, eyelid, or any other surface. Ensure hands and the applicator are clean before administering.
Precautions:
Use of this drug should be reserved for infections with pathogens of known sensitivity.
Prolonged use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi.
If irritation or hypersensitivity develops, discontinue use and consult a veterinarian.
Not for injection into the eye.
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C and protect from light.
